Obituary

Poland--.Funeral services will be held 9:30am Saturday at the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell and 10am in St. Nicholas Byzantine Church for George C. Klanica, 77 who passed away Wednesday evening in St. Elizabeth Medical Center. George was born April 27, 1933 in Campbell the son of Andrew and Anna Pesta Klanica. He was a 1951 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and served his country in the U.S. Army. George retired after 42 years of service as a trouble shooter for Ohio Edison and was a part time employee with ClinLab. He was a member of the church where he was an usher. A member of the Youngstown Old Timers Baseball Assoc.; he enjoyed polka music and dancing; was an avid bowler, belonging to several leagues in the area and was a YSU football fan. George was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, he always supported his grandchildren in all their sporting activities, never missing a game or sporting event. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife the former Mildred Mrosko, whom he married on May 19, 1956; his children, Mike of Canfield, Kathy (David Best) Potkanowicz of Canfield and Dan (Fran) of Boardman; grandchildren Michael & Lindi Klanica, Joey, Tara and Jimmy Potkanowicz and Lauren Klanica and sisters Helen (Del) Sinchak of Boardman and Ann Ceglia of Cortland. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary Bondi and a brother John Klanica. The Klanica family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Friday from 4-7pm, with a 4pm Parastas.
