Poland…Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Lucy Catholic Church, for Frank Lombard, 90, formerly of Camvet Drive in Campbell who passed away peacefully Monday evening.
Frank was born March 10, 1922, in Lowellville, the son of Angelo and Mary Bianco Lombard.
Frank retired in 1986 from the Sharon Steel Corporation as a crane operator from the machine shop, after 37 ½ years of service.
He was a member of St. Lucy's Catholic Church and its' Men's Society, the Valley Mold Lodge of Hubbard, the Men's Garden Club of Hubbard, the "Happy Go Lucky Prime Timers" and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society.
Frank enjoyed gardening and making homemade pasta for his family and friends.
Most recently at Beeghly Oaks Nursing Home, Frank belonged to the Residential Painting Club under the direction of Art Instructor, Suzanne Gray. Frank won ribbons at the Canfield Fair and the YMCA Art Show. He also belonged to the 90+ Club Nonagenarians. He loved playing cards, bingo and going to lunch on the Beeghly bus with friends.
He leaves his wife of 64 years, Josephine, who he married on July 28, 1949; his five children to cherish his memories, David (Crystal) of Poland, Roberta (Dominic) Chiera of Poland, Marilyn (Bob) Suchy of Mercer, Kristine Murphy of Poland and Christopher (Kristie) of Cortland; seven grandchildren, Michael and Michelle Lombard, Dominic Chiera, Dr. Nicholas (Dr. Sheetal) Chiera, Andrew and Rachel Irizarry and Jaimee Lombard; two great-grandchildren, Dominic Chiera and Navin Chiera; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mary Jane and Richard Laliberte and John and Mary Ann Palusak; and many nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Angeline Barnes, Minnie Allen, Dora Candel, Marian Lombard, Virginia Lombard and brothers, Carmen, John, Patrick, Nick and Fred.
The Lombard family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Christopher Knight and his staff at the Hope Center, the nurses at the Infusion Center at Northside Hospital, his two favorite nurses (his angels), Martha and Linda on the 1100 floor of Beeghly oaks, and the staff of Beeghly Oaks and their therapy department for their constant compassion and loving care of Frank. A special thanks to Hospice of the Valley for Frank's peaceful passing.
The Lombard family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Thursday from 4-7:00 p.m.
