Ellsworth Township: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish at St. James Church, 50 Rosemont Road in North Jackson for Eugene Marra, Sr. who passed away Tuesday morning at the Hospice House. Eugene was born August 2, 1930 in Naples, Italy, the son of John and Carmela Marra. He came to the United States at the age of 17. He was a steelworker and a crane operator at Youngstown Sheet and Tube Seamless Division for over 44 years, retiring in 1992. Eugene was a member of the Church. He was an avid gardener and cook. He loved hunting and fishing. Eugene was most known for tending to his 46 acres of land that had three gardens and riding around his property on his golf cart. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. Eugene faithfully attended sporting events to cheer on his grandchildren. Eugene will be missed by all of the neighborhood children who affectionately referred to him as ââ?¬Å?Papa Gene쳌. He leaves to cherish his memory his two sons, Gene, Jr. (Diane) and Frank (Karen); a daughter, Annamarie Marra Beres, all of Ellsworth Township; and four grandchildren, Marci (Brad) Brogan, Macy and Micah Marra; Patrick Beres, Jr.; and two great-grandchildren, Brooks and Landree Brogan. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, the former Viola T. Minott whom he married on September 30, 1950 and who passed away January 21, 2006. The Marra family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Friday from 5 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and again on Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at St. James Church.
