Obituary

LOWELLVILLE - Funeral services will be held Friday at noon at the Wasko Funeral Home, with Rev. Michael Swierz officiating, for Elizabeth A. "Betty" Okular, 82, who passed away Sunday morning. Betty was born Nov. 20, 1933, in New Castle, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Alvin and Geraldine Adams. She loved playing bingo, especially at St. Michael's Byzantine Church. Betty enjoyed making afghans, as well as being famous for her special red velvet cake. Above all, Betty loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and cherished spending time with her brothers and sisters. She always put her family first. Betty's husband, Theodore L. Okular Sr., whom she married April 28, 1956, passed away Nov. 29, 2003. Betty leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Theodore L. Jr. (Deborah) of Coitsville, John J. of Campbell, and Jackie A. (Vincent) Stanko of Campbell; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Okular of New Middletown; seven grandchildren, Christopher (Jackie), Colbie (fiance Ryan), Cory (fiance  Alyssia), Kyle, Kara, and Natalie Okular and Gabriel Stanko; two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Katelynn Okular; her sisters and brothers, Wanda (Joel) Magno, Alvin (Bertha) Adams, Marie Kraesen, Linda Adams, Donald (Rose) Adams, Joe Adams, Darlene Adams, Marlene (Jim) Biros, John Adams, and Debbie (Chuck) Taylor, all of New Castle, and Doris (Marvin) Gandee of Lowellville; and 26 nieces and 15 nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Theodore, she was preceded in death by her son, Richard J. Okular; her brothers, Bill, Norm and Larry Adams; and her sisters, Arlene Dawson, Minnie Harding and Beverly Porter. The Okular family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Friday from 11 a.m. to noon, prior to the noon funeral service.
