Obituary

Poland: Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church for Mr. Sharshan, formerly of Campbell who passed away at St. Elizabeth?¢s Medical Center in Boardman on Saturday surrounded by his family. Mr. Sharshan was born in Campbell on May 4, 1926 to the late Michael Sharshan and Marie Kalafut Sharshan. He was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church. He graduated from Campbell Memorial High School and enlisted in the US Navy in 1943. He served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII from 1943 to 1946 and received 6 ribbons and 3 battle stars in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. After his discharge he went to National Radio and Electronics School in Cleveland for three years. He owned and operated with his father Campbell Electronic Service on Robinson Road in Campbell from 1962 to 1982. He was appointed to the Campbell Fire Department in 1951 and retired in 1982 after 31 years of service. He retired as captain and also served as acting fire chief. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7600 in Coitsville, American Legion Post 560 in Campbell, Professional Firefighters of the State of Ohio, Police and Firefighters Retirees of Ohio and the Infant Jesus of Prague of St. Elizabeth?¢s Church. His first wife Doris J. Koval of Campbell, whom he married in 1951 died in 1969. He later married Agnes Bartos Schultz of Campbell in 1985. He is survived by five children, Doris (Frank) Kusky and Denise Sharshan of Campbell, Diane (Lino) Battaglini of Lowellville, Debra (Michael) Platton of Canfield, Edward (Kim) Sharshan, Jr. of Columbiana and a stepdaughter Janice Schultz of Boardman; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A grandson Edward Kusky preceded him in death. The family would like to thank Dr. Nicholas Proia and his staff for their kindness during much of his illness. The Sharshan family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Thursday from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Funeral home.
