POLAND – Edward Joseph Bartolec, 76, passed away unexpectedly on October 7, 2014. He was born April 16, 1938 in Youngstown, a son of the late Joseph and Mary Jedrzejczyk Bartolec.
After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School, Edward served in the United States Army. He began his career with Republic Steel where he was employed for 10 years, then was employed at General Fireproof as a paint mixer/laborer where he retired after 23 years of service. After his retirement, he worked in the maintenance department at St. Stanislaus Church.
Edward was a devout member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish at St. Matthias Church, was an active member of the Catholic War Vets Post 1222 and Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed working on cars and loved working outside. His first love, though, was his family and making sure that everyone was taken care of; Edward was never afraid to help anyone that needed or asked for his assistance. Another enjoyment that he had was meeting with his friends at different coffee shops around the area.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Janina Wyka Bartolec, whom he married December 30, 1982; his sons, Edward (fiancée Shannon Claugus) of North Canton; and Matthew (Lindsey) of Niles; sisters-in-law, Marianna Milajecki of Wellsville, and Danuta (Ed) Krawiec of Poland, Europe; a niece, Anna (Mark) Zaremba of Pittsburgh, PA; a nephew Thomas (Kedi) Milajecki of Orlando, FL; two grand-nephews, Thomas and Andrew Milajecki, and many cousins.
Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Edward's honor to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
