Obituary

An hour of calling will be held from 9 to 9:50 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church, celebrated by Father Edward Neroda for Dorothy A. Platenak, 78. Dorothy was born June 7, 1938, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Mark and Eva (Shopinsky) Vlajkovich. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church. Dorothy loved crocheting and knitting, often gifting her creations to family and friends. She also enjoyed listening to talk radio, doing crossword puzzles and keeping up on current events. She leaves behind to cherish his memories, her children, Edward M., Daniel L., Linda M. and Kenneth D. Platenak; her grandchildren Kary (Kyle) Ostrander and DJ (Heejoo) Platenak; and two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Caitlin. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Platenak; and her sister, Roberta Fryfogle. The family has entrusted the care of Dorothy to the Kubina Yuhasz Wasko Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery. Visit www.waskofamily.com to send the family condolences.
