Donald E. "Gene" "Gino" Rankin, 56 Lowellville…A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Lucy Catholic Church for Donald E. "Gene" "Gino" Rankin, 56, who passed away Tuesday. Gene was born August 13, 1957 in Youngstown, the son of Salvatore and Barbara Kowalski Yacavone. He was a semi truck driver for AVI Food Systems. Gino was an active member of several VFW Organizations in the area. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His wife, the former Theresa Bosley, whom he married October 8, 1988, passed away November 6, 2007. Gene leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Barbara of Campbell; his son Joshua Rankin of Campbell; two brothers, David (Jane) Yacavone of Muskegon, Michigan and Kenneth (Anne) Yacavone of Poland; two sisters, Nancy (Pete) Karpyk of Weirton, West Virginia; and Peggy (Dean) DiStasio of Loveland, Ohio; his dog and best "buddy", Oreo; his cat, Princess; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, Gene was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter and Helen Banasik Kowalsky. Gene's family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Saturday from 11-1:00 p.m. in St. Lucy Catholic Church in Campbell.
