Obituary

Youngstown: Funeral services will be held 9am Monday at the Wasko Funeral Home and 9:30am in Holy Name of Jesus Church in Youngstown for Charles V. Wasko, 90 who passed away Wednesday morning in his home. Charles was born Feb. 28, 1919 in Struthers, the son of Nicholas and Mary Pollak Wasko. He was a 1937 graduate of South High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Marine Corps in WWII. Charles retired from General Fire Proofing as a press operator. He was a very active member of the church and was very active in St. Vincent DePaul Society. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife the former Helen Shuba whom he married on Nov. 25, 1948; his children, Carole (George) Kolman of Poland, Eugene (Glenna) of Rochester, MN and Charles P. (Marilyn) of Stow; grandchildren, Alex Tocco, Beth Usrey, Hayley, Jon, Sarah, Kyle and Mark Wasko; step-grandchildren, Nicole Broadwater and Natalie Kolman; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Nathan and Cameron and 3 step great grandchildren, Seth, Demitrious and Austine. He was preceded in death his parents, a son Richard and a brother, Eugene. The family would like to thank the nurses from Hospice of the Valley and the nurses and staff of Hospice House for the wonderful care they gave Charles. The family wishes that monetary contributions be made to The St. Vincent DePaul Society or Hospice of the Valley/Hospice House in Charles?¢s name. The Wasko family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Sunday from 3-5pm.
