Carmen S. Santiago, 82 Poland…Funeral services will be held Saturday at Noon at the Wasko Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at Sta. Rosa de Lima Catholic Church for Carmen S. Santiago, 82, formerly of Youngstown's Eastside, who passed away Monday evening. She was born July 20, 1931, in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Leopoldo Santiago and Maria Melendez –Figueroa. Carmen spent 30 years in New Jersey before coming to Youngstown in 1986. Carmen worked as a clothing seamstress in New Jersey, retiring after 30 years of service. For several years she was a custodian for O.C.C.H.A. and the McGuffey Centre in Youngstown. She was a very active member of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at Sta. Rosa de Lima Catholic Church and belonged to the Church's Legion of Mary Guild. Carmen enjoyed praying, cooking and sewing, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family. She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter and son-in-law, Carmen (Brian) Ramirez-Boyd of Poland, with whom she made her home; her three grandchildren, Marlon Ramirez, Jordan Boyd and Courtney Boyd; a sister, Aurelia Cruz of Puerto Rico; two brothers, Victor Santiago of Puerto Rico and Felix Rivera of Youngstown; and many nieces and nephews. Carmen was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Claudia Melendez; and four brothers, Leopoldo, Ruperto, Ramon and George Santiago. The Santiago family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
