Campbell: Anthony Ramunno passed away suddenly at home late Friday, May 27, 2011. Anthony was born June 19, 1924 at home in E. Youngstown to Pietro and Valentina (D?¢Ambrogio) Ramunno, of Italy.
A World War II veteran, Anthony served with the Army Air Force, trained in Texas, and toured in Germany, France, and Puerto Rico. Before the war, Anthony worked assembling aircrafts. Afterward, he was employed by Steel Door, later retiring from Fitzsimmons Steel, Youngstown.
A member of Sacred Heart Church, Anthony was devoted to his family. He spent time with his daughters and shared meals with Valentine each day. He enjoyed the artistic endeavors of twins Kathleen and Maureen, and the laughter he found in his daughter Victoria?¢s quick wit and enchanting stories. Anthony built furniture for his family, and was especially fond of pets Pookie, the cat, and his parakeet, Tweetie Maria.
His beloved wife, the former Antoinette Vitucci, whom he married on April 27, 1957, passed away on December 22, 1996; he was also preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Michael, James, Joseph, Albert, Rose Garasky, Carl, Caroline DeBlasio, and Quentin Ramunno.
Anthony is survived by four daughters, Valentine Ramunno of Campbell, twins Kathleen (Michael) Finney and Maureen Ramunno of Youngstown, and Victoria (Richard) Ceci of Medina, Ohio; a niece and several nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Calling hours will take place at Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 2. Friends may also call Friday morning at 9 a.m. prior to a service at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2011 at Sacred Heart Church, Youngstown, Ohio. Burial will take place at St. John?¢s Cemetery, Lowellville, where he will be laid to rest along with ashes of his wife, Antoinette, the love of his life.
