Anna Wansack, 102, formerly of Campbell, passed away on March 26, 2017 after a short illness. She was born on September 30, 1914 in Youngstown Ohio, the daughter of Mathew Wansack and Mary (Halchalk) Wansack. Anna earned an Associate's Degree in elementary education in 1936 from Kent State University, attended Youngstown State University and earned her Master's Degree from Westminster College in 1957. She taught in the Campbell School System for 42 years. Anna saw the best in people and had an engaging personality that could bring a smile to anyone's face. People of all ages loved her company. For over three decades, she traveled extensively with her friends Hilda Carano, Helen Cuba and Jennnie Nestase. Together, they brought laughter and excitement to any tour. She was generous with her brothers' children and their children. Three generations of nieces and nephews cherish countless memories formed over the years during their shopping excursions and travels with her throughout the Mahoning and Shenango valleys. Anna was everyone's favorite and she hosted the family Thanksgiving dinner for over thirty years.
Anna was a lifetime member of St Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church and the Greek Catholic Union. She leaves countless stories and memories filled affection to her niece Janice (Wansack) Johnson of Boardman, her nephews Gerald Wansack of Petersburg and Jim Wansack of Dayton as well as a sister-in-law Mary (Wigginton) Wansack of Boardman. In addition to her parents, Mathew and Mary, she was preceded in death by her brothers Matthew Wansack of Campbell and Dr. Andrew Wansack of Boardman. Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. There will be a mass at St Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church on Wilson Ave, Youngstown, OH at 10 AM Saturday, April 1.
