CAMPBELL - Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at 11 a.m., at the Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, for Andrew Wayda, 88, who passed away Saturday evening at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center, following a brief illness. Andrew was born Jan. 12, 1927, in Campbell, the son of Andrew and Anna Warga Wayda. Andrew was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of the Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. John the Baptist Church in Campbell and a lifelong area resident. Andrew was a graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and worked in the Annealing department of Cold Metal Products for 40 years. He was an avid bowler and golfer, with two holes in one to his credit. He spent many pleasant days with his bowling buddies and supporters, visiting Lucky Dogs in Hubbard for his hot dog fix and instant lottery tickets. He also enjoyed visiting area casinos, an activity he shared with his wife, Margaret, whom preceded him in death. He is survived by two daughters, Margaret (Philip) Ford of Campbell and Dr. Andrea Wayda (Dr. Patrick Jobe) of Westfield, N.J.; two grandsons, Andrew Ford of Queens, N.Y., and Daniel (Sara) Ford of Poland; great-granddaughters, Sabrina Colleen and Adelaide Marie. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Andrew was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Margaret. The Wayda family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive family and friends today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at St. John Catholic Cemetery.
