Campbell…Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home and at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. John Catholic Church, for Andrew P. Pavliga, 86, who passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side Saturday evening. Andrew was born April 29, 1927, in Campbell, the son of Martin and Mary Sztrasnak Pavliga. He was a graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and a lifelong area resident. Andrew was a member of the U.S. Army and a Veteran of WWII in the Army Armored Division, honorably discharged in 1946. He was employed at Republic Steel Corporation in the Accounting Department for over 40 years, retiring in 1984 as a supervisor. Andrew was a member of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. John Catholic Church. He loved flying, sailing, fishing, canoeing and all outdoor sports and activities'. Andrew flew with Watson Flying Club in eastern Ohio/western PA. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He was an amateur photographer with a number of individuals and businesses employing his service over the years. Lately, the biggest joy in his life was spending time with his grandchildren. Most recently, he enjoyed the time he spent fishing, canoeing and hiking with his grandson Connor, attending his grandson Tyler's sports functions, and traveling to Columbus to spend time with his grandchildren Kara, Adam and Luke. Andrew leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Joni (Keith Lenhart) Frklech of Boardman, his son, Rick (Joan) Pavliga of Columbus; a sister, Betty (Rudy) Schlosser, of Campbell; and his grandchildren, Tyler and Connor Frklech of Boardman and Kara, Adam, and Luke Pavliga of Columbus; and his former wife, Virginia. He also leaves behind numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Evelyn Marie Pavliga, an infant son; brothers, Frank and John Pavliga; and sisters, Ann Cabasino and Kathy Witt The Pavliga family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Tuesday from 5-8:00 p.m. The Pavliga family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of the Valley in Andrew's name.
