Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN Calling hours will be held Friday April 15, 2016, from 9:00am-9:50am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish at St. Matthias Church celebrated by Fr. Martin Celuch for Agnes Kalwarczyk, 86, who passed away April 11, 2016.

Agnes was born January 20, 1930 in Youngstown, a daughter of Joseph Skokan and Anna Pahut Skokan.

Agnes graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1948. She was a member of St. Matthias Church, where she was active in the choir, as well as the Infant Jesus of Prague Guild and Sacred Heart & Rosary Society. She was also a member of the First Catholic Slovak Union #731 and the Slovak Catholic Sokols Wreath #54.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories her sister, Jean Ferkula of Youngstown, her brother-in-law, Joseph Olbrych of Salem, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Kalwarczyk, who she married June 28, 1952 and preceded her on December 8, 1986, and her son, Joseph "Mickey" Kalwarczyk, her sisters, Mary Clark and Helen Olbrych, and a brother, Edward Skokan.

The family has entrusted Agnes' care to the Kubina-Yuhasz-Wasko Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
